The UWANTGAME LA Speaker Series is a program created by educators at Alain LeRoy Locke Senior High School in Los Angeles, California. The program’s mission is to inspire and encourage high school student-athletes and develop them into thriving individuals and lifelong learners by establishing connections to a diverse group of successful former collegiate student-athletes.
Through a series of lecture-workshops, collegiate student-athletes offer personal testimonies and insight on what it takes to transition from high school sports to the college level; and, they provide valuable tips on balancing sports, academics, and social activities.
Locke High School students-athletes, who are a part of the UWANTGAME LA Speaker Series, have the opportunity to participate in several exciting field trips to college and university campuses, and cultural and sporting events throughout the greater Los Angeles area, which are all intended to further develop their personal and professional life skills and aid them in becoming successful individuals.
